Frequently Asked Questions

How do I make an appointment to see a psychologist at Kidthink?
Please contact us and discuss your reason for seeking psychological support with a psychologist at Kidthink. We will ask a few questions to discern whether a psychologist is the best professional to support you or your child's needs.

Do I need a referral to be able to see a psychologist?
No. Although it is not necessary to have a referral from your GP or Paediatrician, it may be beneficial to review your child's difficulties with a medical practitioner prior to your first psychology session as you may be eligible for particular rebates or funding programs.

What do I need to bring to my first appointment?
Typically, the initial appointment is parent only to ensure a comfortable atmosphere for parents to discuss their concerns for their child. At this appointment please bring along any reports that you feel may be helpful for the psychologist in getting to know your child and their difficulties. It is also important to bring along completed copies of the questionnaires (i.e. parent and teacher questionnaire) to ensure that your psychologist has the most information available to them at the time of appointment.

How do I pay for the session?
Unless otherwise arranged with the psychologist, payment is required at the completion of the session via cash or cheque. There are no card facilities at Kidthink. You will then be issued a receipt that you can use, if applicable, to reclaim rebates via Medicare or Private Health Cover.
